Off-leash obedience
Our 3-week Transformational board-and-train builds a true off-leash recall, place, and heel by layering the 3 Ds — distance, duration, distraction — on a real obedience foundation. Outcome guarantee. 5 in-person refreshers. Lifetime trainer chat. $6,000.

What real off-leash actually is
Most dogs “know sit” in the kitchen. Almost none do the same sit on a hiking trail with a deer 20 feet away. The gap is the 3 Ds — and you cannot ship a dog as off-leash reliable until they hold up under all three.
We start work at 5 feet. By the end we are calling the dog reliably from 100+ feet across a field, through a parking lot, and out of the next room. Distance is not just leash length — it is the dog's belief that the cue still applies when you are not standing on top of them.
Place for ten minutes while you eat. Down-stay through a UPS delivery, a doorbell, the kids running through the living room. A two-minute recall hold while a stranger walks past. Duration is the difference between a trick and a reliable behavior.
Real life is not the kitchen. Real life is the off-leash hike with deer, the dog park edge, the brewery patio, the fenced friend's yard with three other dogs. We layer distraction on top of distance and duration so the work actually holds.
Real graduates, real owners

Four structured phases, run out of our Mullica Hill HQ, with the go-home lesson and refreshers built in from the start.
Drop-off, decompression, evaluation. We rebuild the four-on-the-floor basics: sit, down, place, heel, and a structured recall — first on a long line, then off it as the dog earns it. E-collar and prong are conditioned humanely and introduced as low-pressure communication. The dog learns the cue means what it says.
Once the basics are clean, we layer distance, duration, and distraction. Multiple trainers, different environments inside and around our facility, increasing challenge. The dog stops checking out when the cue gets harder; that is the whole game.
We take the work on the road — strip mall parking lots, the Mullica Hill town center, Wenonah trails, Cherry Hill outdoor seating, public parks. By the end the dog is reliably off-leash under conditions the dog will actually live in. The bar is not "responds in our facility" — the bar is "responds in your real life."
You come in for a structured handover so the entire skill set transfers to you, on your dog, on your hardware. You leave with the program, a maintenance plan, and 5 in-person refresher sessions built in. Lifetime trainer chat access means you have a place to come back when something new comes up in year two.
Nothing hidden, nothing add-on. Every item below is in the program for every dog.
We do not stop until your dog reaches the off-leash goals we agree on at the start. Those goals are written down before drop-off so we both know what success looks like — no moving targets, no upsells mid-program.
Honesty pays. Three quick callouts so you book the right thing.
The 1-Week Foundational ($2,500) handles polite leash, sit, down, place, recall — on-leash reliable, not off-leash.
See the 1-weekReactivity comes first. The 3-week Behavior Mod or 4-week Custom both build off-leash obedience as part of the program.
Reactive dogsThe 4-week Service Dog program ($8,000) is for ADA task work on top of the off-leash foundation.
Service dogsThat is the whole point. We do not certify a dog as off-leash ready until the work holds up in the environments the dog will actually live in — busy parking lots, public parks, suburban yards with squirrels and deer. If we cannot get the dog there in three weeks, we will tell you on the consult call and recommend the longer 4-week Custom program. We do not graduate dogs that are not ready.
Prey drive is the hardest single distraction to proof against. We address it directly during week 3 in real environments. Most working-breed dogs reach a reliable off-leash standard around medium prey-drive triggers (squirrels, geese, neighbor dogs) by graduation. High prey-drive sight hounds and herding crosses sometimes need the 4-week Custom for full reliability around deer and rabbits. Honest assessment on the consult.
Yes — humanely and as low-pressure communication. E-collar work is one of the safest, kindest, and most precise tools for off-leash obedience because it lets us deliver crisp information at distance without yelling, yanking, or chasing. Every dog we graduate is e-collar conditioned and the handler is trained on it during the go-home lesson. If you have hard preferences against e-collars, tell us on the consult — we will be honest about whether the off-leash goal is realistic with the tool restrictions you want.
Knowing commands and being off-leash reliable are different things. A dog that responds reliably on a 6-foot leash in the kitchen is not the same dog you can trust off-leash on a hiking trail with deer. The 3-week is built around exactly that gap — taking dogs that "kind of listen" and turning them into dogs that listen, every time, under real-world distraction. Many of our graduates came in already "trained" by another program.
Reactivity comes first. An off-leash reactive dog is a public liability. If your dog has reactivity issues, the right starting point is our Behavior Modification 3-week ($6,000) or Custom 4-week ($8,000) — both build off-leash obedience as part of the program once the reactivity is rehabilitated. See /reactive-dogs for that funnel.
Only if the handler stops doing the work. The go-home lesson exists to transfer the entire skill set to you. Every Transformational graduate gets 5 in-person refresher sessions and lifetime trainer chat access. Most regression is the handler getting inconsistent — refreshers exist so you have a place to come back when life gets in the way.
Typically 2-3 weeks from a signed agreement to drop-off. Off-leash and obedience cases run on the same roster as our reactivity cases, so booking visibility into the calendar happens on the consult call.
Tell us about your dog. We will tell you what realistic off-leash looks like for your specific dog, which program fits, and what it costs. The first 30-minute call is free.
